Hello Phoenix! Exciting things are on the horizon for Phoenix Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and we can’t wait to share what’s next! This spring, we’re kicking off the next phase of public outreach to help shape the future of BRT in Phoenix. Here’s what you can expect as we dive into collaborative discussions about design options along the first BRT corridor - 35th Avenue.

Discovering BRT Lane Options

One of the key decisions we’re asking for is your input on side-running vs. center-running dedicated BRT lanes. Let’s break it down:

Side-running BRT Lanes

  • Allows both BRT buses and vehicles that are turning right to use the side dedicated lane.
  • Allows local buses and BRT buses to use the side stations.

Center-running BRT Lanes

  • Allows only BRT buses in the center dedicated transit lanes, creating faster BRT bus travel times.
  • Allows left turns at signalized intersections only.

Both options have unique considerations, and this spring, we’ll be sharing all the details so you can weigh in on which design you think is the best fit for YOU and your community.

Join the Movement

This spring, we’ll be hosting community workshops, conducting online sessions, staffing pop-up events, and canvassing area stakeholders to share information, collaborate with you, and hear your thoughts. This is your chance to:

  • Learn about the two BRT lane options and their benefits.
  • Understand how BRT will transform 35th Avenue.
  • Share your preference on lane design to help shape the future of BRT.

Your input will guide us as we select a preferred design and move toward the next phase of planning and design by summer 2025.

Stay Tuned!

We’re looking forward to seeing you this spring as we continue building a more connected, accessible, and efficient transit system for Phoenix. Keep an eye out for updates on workshop dates and locations—we’ll be sharing all the details soon.

Together, let’s create a BRT system that is an essential transit option for our community!  See you in the spring!
