Hi Van Buren Street! Let’s Meet!
Join Us this October for an Engaging Discussion on BRT Lane Options!
Phoenix BRT Program Team
As the weather cools, October brings more than just relief from the heat. It’s an exciting time for the Van Buren Street Corridor community and businesses to come together for meaningful discussions that can shape the future of the Phoenix Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Program. We’re thrilled to announce a series of public events aimed at exploring side-running vs. center-running BRT lane options.
Our public events will feature discussions and opportunities for you to share your insights and opinions. Let’s look at the options.
Here’s what makes the side-running lane option unique: Local buses can use it too, and BRT stations will be located on the sidewalks. Other considerations include left-turn accessibility throughout the corridor, but more right-of-way impacts to neighbors.

Unlike the side-running option, the center-running lane option will reserve a lane for BRT buses only. Other considerations include less roadway width and right-of-way impacts on neighbors. BRT stations will be in the center of the road, and left turns can only be made at one of the many signalized intersections along the corridor.

We'll be hosting a business workshop, a community workshop, an online open house, pop-up events, and going door-to-door to reach businesses along the Van Buren Street Corridor to discuss all things BRT with you! This is your chance to influence the direction of BRT in your community.
We can’t wait to meet you! Together, we can shape the preferred BRT lane option and begin the design along the Van Buren Street Corridor!
