The Phoenix BRT Program is currently conducting an Alternatives Analysis and developing conceptual design options for the first BRT corridor – 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street. The corridor will encompass:
- 13.6 miles
- 44 signalized intersections
- 16 proposed stations
- Two transit centers
The conceptual design options will also coordinate with and consider:
- Seven other related projects in/near the BRT corridor
- Four Phoenix Council Districts 1, 4, 5, and 7
The first step in our process was to define our priorities for the BRT corridor. Through community feedback, agency and key stakeholder input, and early transit analysis, we identified five priorities that are the foundation for how we develop the 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street corridor. These include:
- Providing safe and accessible multimodal connections
- Developing a “showcase” BRT corridor
- Improving travel times and reliability
- Supporting meaningful and equitable community engagement
- Collaborating with concurrent projects within the corridor
Now our next step is to figure out how BRT will look within the corridor. That’s where you come in! We want to hear your initial thoughts on each of our cross-sections to help us prioritize our design criteria and achieve the priorities above.
Based on your input, we will then evaluate the BRT options and bring the results back to you for additional feedback later this year. So come out and share your thoughts today!
