How Your Voice is Shaping BRT Transit!
I am so excited to announce that the City of Phoenix’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor is officially moving into the 15% design phase, and it’s your feedback that helped us get here! This design phase will focus on dedicated center-running BRT lanes along 35th Avenue.

Hi Phoenix!
I am so excited to announce that the City of Phoenix’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor is officially moving into the 15% design phase, and it’s your feedback that helped us get here! This design phase will focus on dedicated center-running BRT lanes along 35th Avenue.
We connected with nearly 9,000 residents, business owners, elected officials, community leaders and transit riders between February and April 2025. We hosted two community workshops, three business focused workshops, seven pop-up events, two supporting meetings, and launched an online open house meeting tool to share project information and gather your preference on side-running versus center-running BRT lane options.
Here’s what we learned from a diverse group of more than 550 survey respondents. The center-running lane option was the most preferred with respondents saying that the center-running option feels safer overall, is less confusing for drivers, safer for pedestrians, and think dedicated lanes will help alleviate traffic and support transit flow.
For a deeper dive into the survey and outreach metrics, check out our Community Engagement Summary.
Stay tuned for an update on what to expect this fall. We are planning more community outreach for input along the Van Buren Street corridor which runs from 35th Avenue to Greg Stanton Central Station. We want everyone to be involved in the BRT project, and I sincerely hope you will join us for the ride!
